Little Italy on Emerson Avenue

On the corner of Emerson Avenue and County Line Road, right by a Walmart and a place that exchanges cash for gold, is a little slice of Italian cuisine heaven called the Cannoli Queen.

Cannoli Queen is a casual dining restaurant serving delicious traditional Italian fair. They make their items fresh and from scratch daily.

From the outside, unless you knew what a cannoli was, it would be easy to mistake this place for something other than a restaurant. But the moment you walk in their door, the mouthwatering waft of warm marinara and freshly baked bread that greets you will make you ask why you did not find this place sooner.

The welcoming aroma may prompt you to immediately order their Spaghetti and Meatballs, and you should. But the must try items on their menu are the freshly filled traditional Italian Cannoli and the Piazze di Formaggio. Made from the finest ricotta cheese, these rich and creamy sweet treats are sinful yet so worth it.

There hasn’t been one disappointing dish on the Cannoli Queen’s menu thus far. However, the same cannot be said about their prices. At $4 per chocolate-dipped Cannoli, their pricing appears to be on the higher side. Even the famous Carlo’s Bakery of the TLC show, Cake Boss, sells theirs for only $3.50 each.

The Cannoli Queen does make up for the high price with large serving portions. An individual sized entrée can feed two people while the family style sized ones can feed up to six easily.

There are many Italian restaurants in Indianapolis, but none offer great tasting traditional Italian desserts comparable to what Cannoli Queen has. So if you happen to be on the South side of town, a visit to the Cannoli Queen should definitely be on your to-do list.
