Little girl sign language: A five-year-old girl has become famous for her thoughtful gesture during her school's class performance singing "Santa Is His Name-O." Desert News reports Dec. 16 that Claire Koch was seen in a YouTube video her mother posted online that shows her communicating in sign language to her deaf parents as everyone sings.
So far the video featuring the little girl who performed in sign language has garnered over five million views.
It was learned by Yahoo that Claire's mother -- Lori Koch -- said she and her husband were surprised because the had no idea what their daughter was going to do at the school performance.
"ASL is the first language in our home, so our daughter has been exposed to it since birth," Claire's said.
This is a feel-good news story about a young girl who wanted to make her deaf parents enjoyed the school concert just as much as the other parents in attendance. It serves as a reminder that it is important to consider the fact that not everyone is the same in the audience -- or can hear. The little girl has a valuable skill in sign language since deafness is very much a condition millions of people live with.
