Sometimes, big things come in little packages - just ask 62-year-old Roman Dickt, who credits his Chihuahua for fending off an intruder at his Laporte, Ind., home, reported NBC Chicago.
The trouble began last week in the middle of the night when someone began to ring the doorbell around 2 a.m.
Dickt claims that, after opening the door, a man punched him in the face and then, they both fell to the floor.
Enter the hero, Charlie, an eight-month-old Chihuahua who was clearly upset over the after hours intrusion and attack upon his beloved guardian.
Dickt said that Charlie lit into the intruder - biting the man's arm and giving his guardian just enough time to reach for a weapon.
Apparently Dickt has a knife collection inside of his home - thanks to the protective pup's intervention, he was able to reach a machete that was nearby and swing it at the stranger, who quickly fled.
Police were unable to locate the man who fled - between the machete and Dickt's pint-sized defender, it is unlikely the man will be back.
