Little change in last mat team rankings before 2012 Mat Mayhem National Duals

Oklahoma State wrestling remains at the top of three of four national rankings released the week of Feb. 6, the last to be released before this weekend's 2012 Mat Mayhem National Duals.

The Cowboys continue their headlock on the top spot for the fifth straight week in rankings from D1CollegeWrestling.net (D1CW), TheOpenMat.com (TOM) and NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll; InterMatWrestle.com -- which bases its rankings on NCAA tournament strength, not dual-meet strength -- still has Penn State as No. 1.

The rest of the top ten remains essentially the same as the Jan. 30 rankings, with only a few subtle shifts in positions after a week relatively free of major upsets. This could all change in next week's rankings after Mat Mayhem's Regional Qualifying Tournaments on Feb. 11-12, with 24 of the top 33 teams going after the 2012 NCAA Division I National Duals title.

The NWCA/USA Today Coaches Poll is an actual survey of college wrestling coaches, based on dual-meet performance; the other three rankings are determined by the staffs of their respective websites.

Top ten team rankings for week of Feb 6:

  1. Oklahoma State (D1CW, TOM, NWCA); Penn State (InterMat)
  2. Penn State (D1CW, TOM, NWCA); Oklahoma State/Minnesota tied for 2d (InterMat)
