The Pinot Noir is a deep red color but has a lighter quality to it. Produced in California, the wine has the bouquet of fragrant berries and is a very understated feminine wine with notes of cherry and hints of mild spices like clove and allspice. As the evening wore on the wine really opened up. I recommend letting this wine breathe for a good twenty to thirty minute before consuming.
So often we look for an inexpensive Pinot Noir that can be considered an everyday wine. We are looking for the kind of wine we can kick back our shoes and just relax and enjoy. Little Black Dress Wines’ Pinot Noir is just that type of wine as it is not overpowering and can complement almost any type of cuisine.
The winemaker of Little Black Dress is Zidanelia Arcidiacono, known a Z, was born in Texas but moved to Mendoza, Argentina as a child. Studying enology at the university in Mendoza, Zidanelia worked at Bodega Cruz de Piedra after which she did an internship at Les Vignerons du Pays d”enserune in France’s Languedoc Roussillon. When Zidanelia’s relocated to California she began her career at Sonoma Cutrer. Later Dennis Martin of Fetzer wooed her because of her knowledge of micro-oxygenation, a winemaking process that can mature and soften red varietals if done properly. Little Black Dress Wines is part of the Fetzer family of wines and when Concha y Toro acquired the company in 2011, it was only natural to make Zidanelia the winemaker putting the feminine touch on wines that cater to women.
If you are looking for a fun lively wine either the Little Black Dress Wines Pinot Noir or Divalicious Red (reviewed previously) are ideal choices. Although Little Black Dress Wines seems to cater to women, men will certainly enjoy them too.
