The members of country's Little Big Town are ready to release“Day Drinking,” the freshman single from their sixth studio album on Capitol Records Nashville that will be ready for download June 3.

Penned by Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild, Jimi Westbrook, Phillip Sweet and co-writers Barry Dean and Troy Verges, “Day Drinking”was produced by Jay Joyce and features Fairchild on lead vocals.

Regarding the new single, “We are so excited to finally be putting out our new single ‘Day Drinking,’”said Westbrook via a May 29 email shared with Examiner. “It's the first song off of our new album, which will be coming out in the fall.

"We wrote this with our buddies Barry Dean and Troy Verges," he added, "and had such a good time writing that day that it seemed to carry over into the spirit of the song. It makes me think about those summer days when all that's on the agenda is hanging out, relaxing, and having a good time with friends. So, if that's your plan, here's your song! ‘Why don't we do a little day drinking?’"

To film the teaser video for the new track, Grammy winners Little Big Town returned to Watertown, Tenn., to the location of their award-winning video for the No. 1 “Tornado” track. The video may be viewed on the band's official website.

Reps for CMT recently announced Little Big Town as performers on the 2014 CMT Music Awards that will be broadcast live June 4 on CMT and beginning at 8 p.m. (ET). Per the band's PR camp, the awards will mark the first TV-debut performance of “Day Drinking.” FYI: The quartert also is in the running for CMT's Group Video of the Year for “Your Side of the Bed” during the telecast.
