A Lithonia man was arrested for his wife’s murder several hours after he reported her missing in DeKalb County.

Mr. Valance Taylor, 42, was charged with murder and transported to the DeKalb County jail early Wednesday morning, according to DeKalb County police.

The investigation began around 8 a.m. Tuesday when M. Taylor reported his 34-year-old wife missing, telling officers he hadn’t seen her since the day before, police spokesman Capt. Steve Fore said.

“He said it was uncharacteristic of her to go missing,” Capt. Fore said.

Around 5 p.m., some children found Mrs. Anisa Taylor inside her vehicle at Salem Park. Something about the woman appeared odd and they tried to get her attention.

“’Hey lady, you okay?’”

The woman didn't answer and they called 911, Capt. Fore said.

Police along with the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene. The medical examiner’s office determined the woman was killed, but police have declined to release the cause of death.

Mr. Taylor remained in jail Thursday without bond, according to booking records.
