The new partnership between Literacy Partners (LP) and Novelista Publishing is an opportunity to build adult literacy and the joy of reading throughout the city. From each sale of the debut novel Lucky No. 5 by Monica Michelle, Novelista will donate part of the proceeds to LP.
LP Executive Director Anthony Tassi stated, “We are excited to partner with Novelista…. Promoting literacy and a love of reading and literature is what LP is about.” For over 40 years, LP—New York City’s only nationally accredited adult education program—has helped adults and their families achieve literacy and life goals by providing them with the skills necessary to be successful at work and in their communities.
Michelle, author and founder of Novelista, is equally excited and serious about the collaboration:
Novelista aims not only to entertain its readers with real-life, relatable stories, but to give back to the community, helping people to improve their literacy…. Life is too difficult to navigate without the ability to read.”
Novelista is a Westchester County-based publishing house of mainstream women’s and children’s fiction. Lucky No. 5, “an unconventional story about modern-day love and relationships in New York City,” launched on Oct. 1 as an e-book on Amazon.com and the Kindle Store.
