If you haven't yet the the chance to read last week's interview with Lita Ford, she's currently in the studio writing and recording for her next album. In preparation for a support tour in the spring, Ford and her band recently booked a few live dates to wake up those Rock 'n' roll muscles.
On November 18th, Ford hit the stage at Bolingbrook's Tailgater's to a sold out crowd. While we were not blessed with the ultra cool presence of one of her signature B.C. Rich Warlock guitars, Ford commanded the stage with her own brassy brand of playing and singing. She made her way through a roster of songs from most of her albums. Highlights included: Gotta Let Go, Dressed to Kill, Can't Catch Me, Dancin' on the Edge, Hungry, Close My Eyes, and of course, ending the night with her smash hit Kiss Me Deadly.
At age 53 and after a nearly 15 year hiatus from touring, Ford's voiced sounded as solid and powerful as ever and her guitar work was top-notch. She was also one of the most courteous, kind rock stars I've met after a concert. Ford spent at least an hour greeting devoted fans, taking photos, and autographing an endless stack of photos and memorabilia with smiles, sincerity, and gratitude throughout the night.
Lita Ford will be attending the annual NAMM music industry convention in January. Then she'll wrap up her next album and set out on her next U.S. tour. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for Ford's next efforts.
