Lita Ford reunites with Joan Jett . . . for dinner

Former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford and her ex-bandmate Joan Jett have had plenty of animosity for one another over the decades, but the pair recently reunited for the first time in years for a friendly dinner in New York City.

"I hadn't seen her so long. We exchanged guitar picks," Ford told The Chicago Tribune's Steve Knopper. "I just thought it was about time to see her. I reached out to her, and she reached back to me, so it was meant to be.

"She could have told me, 'Ah, go stick your head in the toilet,' but she didn't. It was great. I told her in the e-mail, 'If you want, you can tell me to f*ck off. It's fine, but I would really love to see you.' She was a sweetheart."

The Runaways were the first all-female rock group to play their own instruments, and the band also launched the more commercially successful solo careers of both Jett and Ford. Though often overlooked by critics, the band was immortalized in a successful movie last year, and Ford recently said she would like to see the group reunite.

“I would love it. I can’t answer that question, but I would love it,” she recently told the Naperville Sun. “We were ahead of our time. Now, people are realizing we were ahead of our time. We inspired so many different artists, and not just girls.”

Ford, who is currently going through a divorce from ex-Nitro vocalist Jim Gillette, has been out touring and is working on a new album that she intends to title The Healing.
