Have you ever thought of someone you haven't seen in awhile and all of a sudden they call you? Or you keep seeing the same numbers over and over and you wonder, what does that mean ? Or you get a feeling that you need to take care of something but then you get busy with something else only to find out later it needed to be done?
These are examples of your intuition, your inner voice or spirit trying to tell you something and we all would benefit from listening more. The same can be said for our bodies. Our body and our intuition are connected. Our body knows what it needs to be healthy we just have to slow down long enough to listen to what it's saying. We've been conditioned since our childhoods to be better, faster, smarter. Before we know it we're spending much of our lives racing around chasing our "dreams" but when asked we're not sure what they are. This leaves us feeling exhausted, depleted and reaching for comfort foods to help make us feel better. Sound familiar?
In order to be happy and healthy we need to slow down and ask ourselves what do we want and what do we need to makes us happy? This applies to what we eat as well. What can we eat that tastes good and can nourish our bodies and make us feel good? Most people report feeling a difference after eating something healthy compared to eating junk food. Not to mention all the evidence that supports how eating a nutritious diet can help you look and feel better. This is an example of your body sending you a signal of what it needs. We have to get better at listening.
Meditation or just sitting quietly for 5 minutes a day can help. It's a practice and can take time to learn like any new skill but the payoff is huge. A good place to start is to schedule 5 minutes into your day where you can sit quietly, breathe and think of nothing. Clear your mind, it needs a rest to rejuvenate and replenish it's energy. It's similar to a rest after a workout which gives your body a chance to recover and get stronger. After a couple of days check in with yourself and see how you're feeling? You may begin to get clarity on things that have been a struggle for you.
