Listen to "Planet of the Hoojibs"

Since I posted Rebel Mission to Ord Mantell last week, I’ve been trolling Youtube looking for the audio adventures I loved in my misspent youth.

One I came across is a story that I must have listened to a hundred times on tape as a wee lad. I wore the tape out, though I still have the book it’s from. Thankfully, someone preserved it for posterity on Youtube.

Planet of the Hoojibs was an absurd adventure starring Leia and Chewie.

I was surprised to find that it wasn’t just some absurdist fantasy made for a children’s read along story, it was actually adapted from Marvel Comics Star Wars #55, written by two legends in comics: David Michelinie and Walt Simonson…

It’s an odd story, but perfect for the world of children’s read alouds.

And you all know of my love of Walt Simonson, so seeing him draw a hoojib is absolutely a thrill to me. I’m going to have to crack out my Star Wars omnibusses and read this little gem again…

…just as soon as I’m done listening to the storybook one more time.
