The Denver Post has put a list of places people can take their pets for safety while dealing with the historic floods of the last week.
Here are places for residents to take pets:
- Boulder Valley Humane Society at 2323 55th Street taking in house pets.
- Boulder County Fairgrounds at 9595 Nelson Road in Longmont is taking large animals.
- Adams County Animal Shelter at 10705 Fulton in Brighton is taking house pets.
- Douglas County Fairgrounds at 500 Fairground Drive in Castle Rock is accepting large animals from Commerce City.
While no organization is asking for extra volunteers or supplies just yet, that could change. If you want to help, keep in touch with your local animal shelter to see what is needed and when. Many metro area animal organizations are working together to make sure everyone who needs help with their pets gets help. If you already volunteer at an animal shelter, they may be contacting you if and when volunteers are needed.
