Due to illness, Heidi Stober will not be able to sing the role of Nannetta in tomorrow night’s performance (Tuesday, October 15) of Giuseppe Verdi’s Falstaff by the San Francisco Opera (SFO) in the War Memorial Opera House. She will be replaced by American soprano Lisette Oropesa. Stober is expected to resume the role for the remaining five performances beginning October 20.
Oropesa made her SFO debut in 2011 singing the role of Romilda in George Frideric Handel’s Xerxes (HWV 40). Her Metropolitan Opera appearances during the 2012–13 season were the roles of Gilda in Verdi’s Rigoletto and the wood-bird (Waldvogel) in Richard Wagner’s Siegfried. This past summer she made her debut at the Santa Fe Opera singing the role of Susanna in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro (K. 492).
