San Francisco Opera (SFO) has announced a change in the casting for its upcoming production of Richard Wagner’s Der Fliegende Holländer (the flying Dutchman). The soprano scheduled to sing the role of Senta, Petra Maria Schnitzer, has had to withdraw for health reasons. She will be replaced by American soprano Lise Lindstrom, who will be making her SFO debut, as well as her debut in this particular role.
The schedule for the seven performances of this opera will remain unchanged. They will take place on October 22 at 8 p.m., October 26 at 8 p.m., October 31 at 7:30 p.m., November 3 at 2 p.m., November 7 at 7:30 p.m., November 12 at 7:30 p.m., and November 15 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced from $23 to $385 and may be purchased through the event page for this production. Both these tickets and the $10 Standing Room tickets are available at the Box Office. Standing Room tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on the day of each performance. The Box Office, which is in the lobby of the War Memorial Opera House, is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.
