Lisa Vanderpump’s 'Dancing With the Stars’ gig has ‘Real Housewives’ stars livid

With the Feb. 26 announcement that “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Lisa Vanderpump will be joining the 16th “Dancing With the Stars” cast this spring, some of the other stars of Bravo’s reality franchise are green with envy.

According to Radar Online, “Real Housewives” stars from across the board—including Gretchen Rossi, Heather Dubrow, and Teresa Giudici – have all been campaigning to get on the ABC reality show, but were told that a “Real Housewives”/”DWTS” crossover would never happen.

“A lot of the women are furious. There are a lot of egos that have been bruised and a lot of cast members truly believe it should of been THEM, and not Lisa selected to compete,” a source said, adding that some women even went so far as to ask, “'Who did Lisa sleep with to get on the show?'”

From Vanderpump’s own season of the Bravo franchise, it’s no secret that Kim Richards has long wanted to compete for a mirror ball trophy on “DWTS.” In 2011 she tweeted that she was bummed she wasn’t chosen for the cast.

Ditto for Brandi Glanville, who didn’t try to hide her jealousy when she heard the news that her reality co-star was cast. On Feb. 26 she tweeted: “LisaVanderpump I can't sleep & although I've known & am a tiny bit jelly.”

Glanville later added :”@LisaVanderpump ur gonna be so busy on #DWTS I will look after @KenToddBH I'm so. happy for u.”

Last year, Radar Online reported that it was unlikely that a “Real Housewives” star would ever get a “DWTS” deal, due to the fact that ABC network execs didn’t consider the NBC Universal-owned Bravo reality stars big enough “stars.”

“There have been former and current Housewives that have reached out to producers to appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’ but the ladies have all been shot down,” a source said.

As for Lisa Vanderpump -- who’s paired with pro dancer Gleb Savchenko for the upcoming “DWTS” season -- she took to Twitter to talk strategy. She tweeted: “Well being honest, I am going to need a lot of help, luck, support and a few glasses of rose to even get started. #stiffasanoldboard.”

In the Philadelphia area, Season 16 of “Dancing With the Stars” kicks off on March 18 at 8:00 p.m. on WPVI Channel 6.
