Actress Lisa Rinna got collagen injections in her lips and then had to undergo reconstructive plastic surgery to correct the bloating on her mouth but insists she'd do it again because her puffy lips have bolstered her career.
"I would do it again," Rinna said on the Today Show March 18. "I never had a career before I had the lips. So my lips have had their own career! Without my lips, I would have had a different career, and that probably would have been a nice career."
Lisa, 49, initially got collagen lip injections in 1988 after seeing how great actress Barbara Hershey's lip injections looked in the film "Beaches."
"Twenty-five years ago, I had my lips injected with silicone," Rinna recounted. "[It was a] stupid thing to do. I saw 'Beaches' and I did it with my best girlfriend. So she and I go and we get our lips done."
Over the years, the collagen in her lips got hard and deformed, so she underwent plastic surgery in 2010 to remove the collagen. "A couple of years ago I had a doctor remove as much as they possibly can," says Lisa. "It got to a point where they were yucky. They get hard! I mean, it's gross."
Rinna continues to get Botox and other cosmetic filler injections, but is done with collagen, at least on her lips.
