Lisa "Longball" returns to Ottawa-Gatineau GolfExpo by popular demand (Photos)

Lisa “Longball” Vlooswyk turned in such a smash hit seminar performance during last year’s Ottawa-Gatineau GolfExpo that the National Golf Course Owners Association has her headlining this year’s edition at The Ernst and Young Centre on March 9-10.

“I am very much looking forward to returning to the Ottawa-Gatineau GolfExpo,” said Vlooswyk. “Last year was my first visit to the expo and I heard tremendous feedback about the new venue and I was very impressed with all of the avid golfers that came out to check out the event.

“I was thrilled with the wonderful comments I received after my show. Several gentlemen said they were wary about if they were going to learn anything from a ‘girl’, but they all said they took away great notes and tips to help them with their games.”

Vlooswyk is currently ranked in the top five in the world in Ladies Long Drive. She has won seven consecutive National Long Drive Championship titles, is an LDA Tour Champion and a Nike sponsored athlete. "Longball" holds the Canadian Women’s Long Drive record at 350 yards, two feet, two inches.

“I am only 5-foot-6 and three-quarters and can hit the ball over the length of three NFL football fields. I can help the guy who is 6-foot-4 and struggling to hit it long and the female player who is trying to break two bills (200 yards).”

Also having a passion for the game, Vlooswyk competes on the Canadian Women’s Tour when possible. In addition to her competitive career, she is a golf journalist for several publications, including Inside Golf Magazine, Back9 Network and has her own column in Golf Digest Canada.

“This year my stage show will focus on the fundamentals of hitting it far. I want to help people add distance to their game. I will share tips and techniques that will help all ability levels from the beginning golfer to the scratch club player. I will also include great ideas for warm up, stretching, productive practice and hitting the fairway more often. Distance is an important aspect of the game, but so is hitting it straight.

“I look forward to meeting everyone at the show and love chatting with the participants afterwards.”

The Ernst and Young Centre is located at 4899 Uplands Dr.
