Lisa Loeb to headline the 4th annual Atlanta Jewish Music Festival

Grammy-nominated Lisa Loeb and Nine Stories, Israeli rock sensation Electra and Jewish Blues musician Saul Kaye will highlight and close the 4th Annual AJMF. The variety of unique yet complementary rock sounds is programmed to present the diversity and appeal of contemporary Jewish music. Nearly 150 sponsors, donors and partnering agencies have teamed up to create a climactic finish for what should be the biggest AJMF yet.

The 4th Annual AJMF begins with a Jazz Night at Steve’s Live Music featuring the Michael Feinberg Quintet and Jordan Dayan & Friends. Feinberg (bass) will be accompanied by Julian Shore on piano, Mark Whitfield Jr. on drums, Brian Hogans on sax, and Matt White on trumpet. Dayan (bass) will be accompanied by Louis Heriveaux on piano, Kinaa Botu on percussion, and Eric Fontaine on saxophone. Both groups will perform classics from the great American songbook as well as contemporary numbers written by Jewish composers.

Shabbat Service

For the first time ever, AJMF will unite two communities for the Shabbat Service, which celebrates sacred Jewish music through a unique, contemporary worship experience. Musicians and Rabbis from Ahavath Achim Synagogue and Congregation Bet Haverim will join visiting artists and members of the public to create a memorable and musical beginning of Shabbat. The event is free and open to the public, including non-Jews and non-religious Jews.

1:30 doors, 2:00 music

Lisa Loeb begins her AJMF celebration with a performance of songs from her 2 children’s CDs at Temple Sinai on Saturday afternoon. Local artist and children’s performer, Michael Levine (Mr. Michael) will open for Loeb and set the tone for an afternoon of ruach (spirit). Children aged 2-7 are invited to come for free with a parent and/or guardian.
