Lisa Hyder was killed by Gregory S. Hale, 37, in Tennessee last week. After Hale murdered Hyder, he ate part of her body. According to WaayTV, Hale was arrested late Sunday night and charged with premeditated first-degree murder as well as abuse of a corpse. Authorities believe that Hale planned out the murder of Hyder and then dismembered her, consuming parts of her body.

"Authorities found partial remains of Hyder's dismembered body during a search of the home, according to the affidavit. Authorities said Hyder's head, hands and feet had been cut off and her torso buried in a burn pile at Hale's home. Hale also reportedly admitted to eating part of the victim’s body after killing her."

Lisa Hyder did not know her murderer. According to her ex-husband, she met him at a local liquor store on the night that she was killed. Family members say that Hyder suffered from an alcohol addiction. She had a "rocky" lifestyle and had "drifted away" from family members over the past couple of years. It's unclear how this information relates to the case.

The news of Hyder's death is both shocking and devastating. Her family was so sad to learn of her passing -- and even more so to hear how she was killed.

Funeral arrangements for Lisa Hyder are being handled by Stanford Reed Funeral Home in Tennessee. Hale is due in court on June 23 and is being held on $1.5 million bond.
