Lionsgate debuts poster for 'One for the Money' film

The official publicity poster for the upcoming Jan. 27, 2012 release One for the Money, the film based on the first book in Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series, debuted last week on the Lionsgate Publicity website. Many of those who initially doubted Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl’s ability to physically transform herself into Evanovich’s "bounty hunter with an attitude" were reassured by its appearance.

The poster shows Heigl as a jeans-clad Stephanie Plum, dangling the handcuffs that are often among the tools of her trade. The statement, "She’s looking for a few not-so-good men," that the poster also carries reflects Stephanie’s personal as well as her professional pursuits. In addition to the criminals she seeks, both her love interests – Joe Morelli, played by Jason O’Mara, and Carlos Manoso (AKA Ranger), played by Daniel Sunjata – fall into that category.

The One for the Money film centers on Stephanie’s first case while working as a recovery agent for her cousin Vinnie (Patrick Fischler), a bail bondsman. She must find Joe Morelli, a former vice cop with whom she had a brief relationship while they were in high school. Morelli is now a murder suspect.

Stephanie gets much needed assistance in her search for Morelli from the handsome and mysterious Ranger and less welcome help from her Grandma Mazur, a role taken by Debbie Reynolds. The assignment leads Stephanie into the world of professional boxing, where she meets the terrifying heavyweight contender Benito Ramirez (Gavin-Keith Umeh) and his manager, Jimmy Alpha (John Leguizamo).

One for the Money, a Lionsgate and Lakeshore Entertainment release, is directed by Julie Anne Robinson with a screenplay by Stacy Sherman and Karen Ray and Liz Brixius. Screencaps from the film can be found on Movienewz.
