Lions re-sign Iannuzzi on Monday

According to the Canadian Press, the British Columbia Lions have re-signed wide receiver Marco Iannuzzi to a contract extension.

Iannuzzi, a Calgary native, was re-signed by former Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager Wally Buono, who currently is the general manager for the Lions.

Iannuzzi was in the option year of his contract before signing the extension. During the 2012 Canadian Football League season, Iannuzzi caught 30 passes for 353 yards. His five touchdown receptions were tied with Arland Bruce and Shawn Gore for the team lead.

A product of the University of Harvard, Iannuzzi was the Lions' first pick, sixth overall, in the 2011 Canadian Football League draft.

In 2012 the Lions finished with a regular season record of 13-5, but then lost their playoff game to the Calgary Stampeders in the Western Final by a score of 34-29 at B.C. Place.

The Lions will play the Stampeders in their opening game of the 2013 Canadian Football League season on June 28 at McMahon Stadium in Calgary.
