With a remarkable 33 boat turn out on the California Delta today, the WON Bass Delta Pro Teams held their second event of the 2012 season. The team of Jared Lintner and Ken Mah took top honors on the day with nearly 19-lbs and earned just under $3,000 for their efforts. "We had our limit by 8:30 a.m.," noted Lintner at his weigh-in interview. "It was a good run of bites in the morning; then we hit a lull that lasted until about 1 p.m."
Mah only weeks off his WON Bass Shasta Pro/Am victory teamed up with Lintner who only days ago wrapped up a Professional Anglers Association (PAA) 4th place with the help of a 9-plus he flipped on a Paycheck Skirt. Each of the anglers held bookend bass as the foundation of their 18.96 sack. Their biggest of the big fish in their limit and also the biggest bass of the tournament tipped the scales at 5.49. "One of the five pounders I got today was actually a fish that Jared shook off in practice yesterday," noted Mah."
Although they did throw an umbrella rig, they reported no takers.
The team credited the Jackall TN70 Lipless Crank in Craw Fish for the bulk of their bass and one of the fives and the other big bass to a flippin' fish on Paycheck Bait's Punch Skirt in The Violator. "There is no other color than black and blue at the Delta this time of year noted, Lintner a Tackle Warehouse pro. The team also revealed that most of their fish came shallow in 2 to 6-feet on grassy flats.
Securing a seat in second, trailing by a little more than 2-lbs was the team of Harvey Pulliam and Phillip Dutra. A 5.17 kicker help put the pair in the runner-up position by boosting their bag to 16.78. Dutra noted that their big one came on reaction baits, but wouldn't get any more specific than that. Pulliam confirmed that they didn't find success on a particular bait and junk fished their way to the payday that earned them just under $1,400.
- 18.96 Lintner/Mah
- 16.78 Pulliam/Dutra
- 14.34 Burgess/Watson
- 13.64 Hulbert/Hillesland
- 13.58 Grier/Mullins
The WON Bass Delta Pro Teams will return to Russo's Marina on March 17.
