"Linsanity" in NY as Palo Alto's Jeremy Lin breaks out for the Knicks

Former Golden State Warrior and Palo Alto high school standout, Jeremy Lin, has created Linsanity in New York.

Mark Jackson and the Warriors released Lin to free cap space to acquire DeAndre Jordan; a trade that never materialized when the Clippers matched the 42.7 million dollar offer.

When Steph Curry got injured, the Warriors signed former Knick point guard Nate Robinson for help.

On Dec 27th, Lin was signed by the Knicks, again, as a replacement for an injured player, Iman Shumpert.

Initially assigned to the Erie Bay Hawks of the D-league, Lin impressed with a triple double.  With a 28-point, 11-rebound and 12-assist game, the Knicks had seen enough and pulled the trigger, bringing him up to the NBA club on January 23rd.

Lin’s proving he’s not an aberration. Playing for the Knicks for the third game in a row,  he’s scored 20 or more points in each.

Against the Wizards, he proudly displayed his ability to dunk to the surprise of teammate Tyson Chandler, “ I didn’t know he could dunk!” Chandler said later.

It brought the Knick faithful to their feet as it did the Knicks’ bench.

“I just play with as much emotion and energy as I can.” Lin said.

Lin has played in 12 games, starting two, since being promoted. Overall, he’s averaging 14min/game and 9pts/game.

In the last three games, against the Wizards, Jazz and Nets, while played close to 40min/game, he has scored 23, 28 , and 25 points respectively.

Right now that energy has the New York Knicks on a three-game win streak and a little (by NBA standards) Asian kid from Palo Alto, by way of Harvard, has the rabid, NY basketball fanatics enthusiastic, forgetting about the Carmelo Anthonys of the world.

Kobe and the Lakers come to town for a Friday night match-up and if they’re still talking about Jeremy Lin after the game, you’ll know he’s for real.
