Lino Caringal, Sr.: Distinguished educator dies at 88

San Jose, CA (February 25) -- His students in high school here in this city are mourning the death of their principal in the 60's from Urdaneta Community High School (UCHS), now Urdaneta National High School (UNHS) in Pangasinan, Philippines.

Lino Alimagno Caringal, Sr., former principal of UCHS for more than 10 years (1970s to 1980s) died on Valentine's Day, February 14, 2013 at his family residence in Irvine, California, USA at the age of 88.

He was a disciplinarian, a man of principles, loved the youth of Urdaneta and its neighboring barrios of Villasis and Manaoag, both in the province of Pangasinan, Philippines.

He has a Master's Degree in Education. Through hard work and merits, he became the principal of UCHS in Urdaneta, one of the biggest and rising metropolis of Pangasinan, which is now a very progressive city being the livestock market of the country.

Caringal was a mentor and father to thousands of high school students who are now professionals all over the world. He touched their lives and helped shape their future. His son, Lino Caringal, Jr., a Philippine Military Academy (PMA) graduate, is the president of The Original Urdanetanians (TOU) based in Southern California, USA whose vision is to reach out to as many Urdanetanians all over the world. With such vision, he is forming The Global Urdanetanians (TGU) with the help of friends, classmates, and alumni of the high school his father was a principal for more than 10 years.

Hi late wife, Soledad F. Caringal, was the first dean of the Urdaneta Community College founded by world-famous educator Dr. Pedro T. Orata.
