This 2013 Easter season marks the fifth year that the premium Swiss chocolatier, Lindt, is partnering with Autism Speaks, the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, in order to raise much appreciated funds and awareness. This year the delicious organization will be donating through sales and giving back 10 cents per Lindt GOLD BUNNY (up to the first $100,000 purchased in the U.S.), the number one selling chocolate bunny in the United States. In fact, this is the only chocolate bunny that gives back!
If that does not sound like Lindt is promising to do much, just this act alone allows them to commit to donating more than $115,000 to the nonprofit and that is just through the Easter season. Their commitment does not end there, however. By the end of 2013, Lindt will have amassed more than $600,000 for the Autism cause.
In addition to the bunny giveback, Lindt is hosting their fourth annual Lindt GOLD BUNNY Celebrity Auction. This event is scheduled to kick off on Tuesday, March 5th. At the auction, porcelain versions of the iconic Lindt GOLD BUNNY adorned with celebrity signatures will be auctioned off. One hundred percent of the proceeds from the auction will go directly to Autism Speaks. For more auction information, hosted on LindtGoldBunnyAuction.com, visit the Lindt Facebook page or the Lindt Twitter handle.
They are also hosting the Pin 2 Win Lindt GOLD BUNNY Challenge on Pinterest – yet another way that they are able to give back to Autism Speaks. Of course there will also be activities and other special events taking place in their Chocolate shops.
The Pinterest Challenge (Lindt Pinterest page) begins on March 11th and runs through March 27th. Lindt is encouraging users to create boards focused on their Easter traditions (ie: coloring eggs, egg hunt, basket building). The only requirement is that at least one pin must include a Lindt GOLD Bunny. This should be easy since Lindt bunnies are the centerpiece of most Easter celebrations. The bunnies are available in five sizes and three chocolate varieties: dark, milk and white chocolate.
After 1,000 or more Pinterest users have contributed to the challenge during the challenge time period, Lindt will donate an additional $10,000 to Autism Speaks. Each and every contestant will be eligible to win one of ten gift baskets that will contain all the essentials for creating a memorable Easter: $100 of Lindt Easter merchandise and a Michael’s gift card.
If all of that is not enough, the chocolate specialists are willing to donate $1 to Autism Speaks for every free Lindt Easter e-card sent from LindtGOLDBUNNY.com to friends and loved ones. They are willing to donate up to $5,000.
Then on March 5th and 6th, five-percent of sales from Lindt Chocolate RSVP in-home chocolate parties across the country will also donate to Autism Speaks. Lindt Chocolate Shop in Princeton, N.J., will donate 15% of their sales on March 12th to the charitable organization. Lindt is serious about giving!
Thomas Linemayr, Lindt USA CEO and President, weighed in on their commitment to the advocacy organization saying, “Through our partnership with Autism Speaks, Lindt will have raised more than $600,000 for the organization by the end of 2013 with the help of our iconic Lindt GOLD BUNNY and the participation of our loyal customers. We are proud to continue our partnership with Autism Speaks for a fifth year, helping to generate funds and awareness for a cause that touches so many.”
Liz Feld, President of Autism Speaks countered with “Today, autism affects one in every 88 children, as well as countless friends and families. We are grateful and committed to our partnership with Lindt, and appreciate their continuing support as we look to change the future for all who struggle with the disorder.”
