Ski champion Lindsey Vonn has claimed a victory in the Olympics - scoring a Gold medal despite a bad bruise to her shin.

Vonn sustained a bad bruise on her right shin during a slalom training run in Austria on Feb. 2.  Thanks to the weather not cooperating, Vonn had a few more days to heal.

Hurt or not, the injury didn't keep Vonn from scoring the Gold in the women's downhill ski event Wednesday – the first American ever to do so. (Her American teammate Julia Mancuso took the silver.)

Vonn spoke to the New York Times and stated,

"I couldn’t believe the feeling when I looked up and saw my name with No. 1 next to it.  It was an unbelievable feeling. I didn't know what to do, so I just fell down."

No surprise here.  Congratulations to the Olympic's Golden Girl.
