In a very late change, the official CrossFit Games site announced that Los Angeles-area's Lindsey Valenzuela will replace Camille Leblanc-Bazinet for the head-to-head demo of CrossFit Open workout 13.2 against two-time champion Annie Thorisdottir.
On Facebook, Leblanc-Bazinet explained why she wouldn't be participating in the live workout:
Hey guys, I just wanted to give you all exactly why I couldn't make it for the second open... I am from Canada and I was simply waiting to receive my visa to be abble to pass the border and sadly it came this morning which was to late for me to be abble to go down to brooklyn and plus I didn't want to put the crossfit staff in trouble and not have a girl throw down... thanks for stoping all the ridiculous speculation... :)
and I can't wait to see those 2 girls throw down toguether ... I am heart broken that I couldn't make it and feel like I let everyone down but I couldn't risk not being allowed in the country...
Thorisdottir will now be competing against one of CrossFit's strongest women in Lindsey Valenzuela. The two women are veterans of the CrossFit Games and are evenly matched going into 13.2. Valenzuela recorded 205 reps on Open Workout 13.1 and Thorisdottir scored 209 reps.
Watch two of the sport's top females compete head to head on Wednesday at 5:00 PM Pacific on the official CrossFit Games website.
