Progress continues for U.S. skier Lindsey Vonn, who has been rehabbing her knee since February.

The stylish world-class skier walked down the red carpet this week at the Delete Blood Cancer Gala in New York City, minus two noticeable things – boyfriend Tiger Woods and her knee brace.

The brace has been part of Vonn’s dress code since the Olympic athlete was injured at the Alpine World Championships in Austria in February, and underwent surgery five days after the accident. It wasn’t long after surgery that Vonn began wearing the brace and she and Woods announced on Facebook that they were dating.

Vonn was naturally pleased to be without the brace. It’s a definite sign that progress is taking place and she is headed toward training later this summer in preparation for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

Rehab going well for Vonn

“I’m still in rehab, things are going really well . . . I should start skiing in September and everything’s right on track for the Olympics in February,” Vonn told E! News. “I just dumped the brace. This is my first trip without the brace, so I’m really excited.”

However, the brace won’t be gone permanently.

“Unfortunately my doctor wants me to ski with it for a while, so still gonna be difficult. I can’t get rid of it entirely, unfortunately,” Vonn said.

Woods practicing for Players Championshp

As for Woods being a no show, Vonn explained that her famous boyfriend was practicing. Woods is scheduled to compete in the Players Championship next week and is apparently been home in Florida sharpening his game.
