If you're looking for a real blues blowout this weekend, check out the Harmonica Blowout at B.B.'s Lawnside this Sunday. Lidsay Shannon will be hosting his 25th Anniversary Show on 101 The Fox. His show has been a consistent Kansas City blues mainstay, and this anniversary is a huge one to celebrate. Plus, there is so much talent to go around at the Harmonica Blowout, that it will truly be an all day, all night blast. You'll see Dustin Arbuckle, Joe Spiers, Scottyboy Daniel, Jimmie Meade, John Paul Drum, Lee McBee, Ruslan Ivanov, and Mo Paul.

This venue has hosted some of the greatest harmonica symposiums Kansas City has ever seen, aided by the fact that a couple of the bands that they host at least a couple of times a month are harmonica lead Kansas City Blues greats. Lee McBee and the Confessors play B.B.'s Lawnside BBQ every couple of weeks, as do various versions of John Paul's Flying Circus (such as The Big Three). Both John Paul Drum and Lee McBee have been wailing on the blues harp and driving blues fans wild for decades. Each man has a mastery of his instrument, but they each have a unique style which should create a great contrast to study at this Harmonica Blowout.

The fun doesn't stop there, not by a long shot. Also knocking the socks off of the audience will be Scottyboy Daniel and Jimmie Meade. These two have been circulating in the blues scene and making a name for themselves for several years as well. Scottyboy plays with great soul and feeling and covers a wide range of styles. His playing is high energy; even slower songs that are given the Scottyboy flare have an energetic drive that keeps them interesting. Jimmie Meade is a member of Kansas City blues fav's Levee Town. His is a tasteful style, heavy on ambience. He can get down and blow with the best of them, and he is well known as a blues harp teacher, having taught many area harp players that have, like Jimmie himself, taken their talents to the big stage to compete in the International Blues Challenge which takes place in Memphis each year. Levee Town and Lee McBee and the Confessors will fill out the rest of the instrumental positions, so only the highest quality blues shall be purveyed.
