TMZ reports on March 9 that Lindsay Lohan is facing consequences for her numerous legal problems. She may end up under house arrest or serve another jail sentence. Despite her multiple probation violations, prosecutors are still willing to give her a plea deal and offer her a 90-day house arrest sentence instead of jail time. However, Lohan is allegedly not interested in the deal and would prefer to go to trial.
Lindsay Lohan’s trial is scheduled for March 18, so she has limited time left to make up her mind about the plea bargain. Her lawyer Mark Heller is reported to be encouraging Lindsay to take the house arrest deal and stay out of court, but she is allegedly resisting the idea.
Why is Lindsay Lohan fighting an incredibly generous offer from the prosecutors that would help her avoid jail time? She may believe that she can avoid rehab and house arrest by refusing the plea bargain, but the case is set to go to trial on March 18. If Lohan is convicted, she may serve a jail sentence that is much longer than 90 days of house arrest.
Lindsay’s lawyer, Mark Heller, is encouraging her to take the plea bargain and avoid trial. Heller has already tried to get her case thrown out of court unsuccessfully, and ABC News reports that Judge James Dabney has criticized him for his “lack of understanding of state law.” Nevertheless, he may actually have the right advice for Lindsay by suggesting that she avoid trial and a possible jail sentence by taking the house arrest deal.
