Tuesday, after Lindsay Lohan was taken by the bailiff to jail to serve her 90-day sentence for violating her probation, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s office said that Lohan’s sentence will likely be reduced to 2 weeks because of overcrowding in the jail.

The booking department at the Lynwood jail said Tuesday that Lohan’s expected release date will be August 2, which would be 14-days of the 90-day sentence. The Sheriff’s Department said that inmates serve about 25% or less of their sentences because of overcrowding.

Immediately before Lohan was taken off the judge specifically stated that work release or electronic monitoring would not be acceptable in her case. It is possible that Lohan will spend the entire 90-days in jail without other options available of how she will spend her time.  To see video of the minutes before Lohan was taken to jail and hear what the judge said, click here.

Tuesday, Lohan’s attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley said that she spent several hours with Lohan Monday night preparing her for the court appearance.

“She [Lohan] does not think the sentence is fair,” said Holley. “But she is resolved to comply with the judge’s orders.”

Tuesday, the prosecutor Danette Meyers said Lohan’s sentence was appropriate.

“The message is don’t drink and don’t drive, and if you are punished for it complete the programs,” Meyers said.

Tuesday, Lindsay Lohan began her 90-day jail sentence for violating her probation, and she looked terrified before they the bailiff took her away. The judge said that Lohan will need to report to rehab within 24 hours of being released from jail.

The judge said that photos of Lohan would be restricted to when she appeared at the counsel table. No photos or videos were allowed to be taken of Lohan as she was taken to jail in handcuffs.

Superior Court Judge Marsha Revel sentenced Lohan to 90-days in jail on July 6 for violating the terms of her probation. Lohan broke down and cried after the sentencing was read.
