Lindsay Lohan gets 90 days in jail & sends a secret message to the courtroom

Lohan, seen here at an earlier court appearance.

No one can deny that Lindsay Lohan had it coming. The young actress was finally sentenced to 90 days in jail plus 90 days of inpatient rehab by judge Marsha Revel after violating her probation and not attending her weekly alcohol education classes. However, not before she sent a tacky message to what seemed to be the entire court system. ABC.com has pictures of Lohan's painted nails with the words "F**k U."

Nothing short of a train wreck these days, Lindsay has fallen from the grace of her days as a promising new star. What seems to be incident after incident of either being caught with pictures of cocaine, stumbling drunk from a bar or even getting into a fight with ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson, Lohan is now looked at with a roll of the eyes.

Her father (who seems to have his own train wreck thing going on) recently went on a campaign to try and "save" his daughter by going to different radio stations and begging for help. The controversy over whether or not this was in the best interest for Lindsay or just the best interest for him heated up causing Lindsay and her mother to get involved in yet another family feud with him.

Mark Geragos, a lawyer not involved in Lohan's case, believes the sentence to be unreasonably harsh and thinks the only reason for such a sentence is because of who Lohan is. Geragos told Good Morning America, "The fact remains that if she was anybody else, Lindsay Smith, that she wouldn't be treated this way. ... This is a completely outrageous sentence in terms of her violation."

What do Lexingtonians think about the sentence? Meredith Houlihan had only this to say, "Finally."

I couldn't agree more, Mrs. Houlihan.

UPDATE: Now Us Weekly is reporting that Lindsay probably won't serve the full 90 days (which we all secretly knew, but we had hope...) She's probably going to only have to serve around 22 days, if that.

This is NOT an unjust sentance for her. Too, it is not reality that "if she was any other person she wouldn't be treated this way." Look at the cour systems you silly lawyer, look at the dozens and dozens of cases where this and harsher sentancings have been given to people, one of my family members included. You're a lawyer and know nothing about the real world! Perhaps you wanted to voice this opinion for chances at more money in the future! What motivates you? Greed or justice?

Unbelievable..."too harsh?!" What is this guy smoking? Lindsay has gotten the celebrity treatment her entire life despite theft, cocaine, multiple DUIs, public disturbance, violating her probation, and skipping court dates to party. She's spent a mere 18 hours in jail her entire life for all of these things combined. There's no way a normal Joe like you or I would get off so lightly. I can tell you what 97% of Americans want - Lindsay Lohan to actually have the same consequences for her reckless actions that you or I would if we committed them. Maybe the reason she is untamed is because she doesn't feel there are consequences for her actions - because nobody has given them to her, and every sentence gets curbed and reduced. Now some people think she may serve only 10 or 20 days. If she serves anything less than 90 days the public and I will be sorely disappointed.

She should be sentenced to life with Lindsay Lohan. That should be punishment enough.

Considering she made Freaky Friday, I'd say she got off easy. I wouldve given her the electric chair.

I agree with my fellow "Lindsay Smiths". If it were anyone BESIDES a celebrity, they would not have been able to get away with skipping court appearances to go to Moracco to work with children...are you kidding me? Multiple DUIs NOT that big of an offense? If that is true, maybe that is why there are so many drunk drivers! Why on earth should that offense (or MULTIPLE offenses in Lohan's casse) NOT be a big deal? I have a 10 year old daughter and I could not be happier that they are FINALLY making a celebrity responsible for her actions. 90 days? I don't think it's enough!

Who cares. Get a life people. Shes not worth the time of day you're all giving her. She's never made a movie worth watching and never will!

Lindsay Lohan had better wake up.
If time in jail does not open her bloodshot eyes to reality, then perhaps nothing will.
She may not know it, but her life and career could be on the line.
Drugs and alcohol will destroy her.
Hollywood's history is filled with dreams that were cut short.
