Lindsay and Caron get local at the Cheesecake Factory

Yesterday evening local NBC sports anchor Lindsay Czarniak interviewed the Washington Wizards' Caron Butler as part of her ongoing series, "Lunch with Lindsay."  The Centreville High School alumna asked "Tuff Juice" about workout schedules, straws, Coach Saunders, and the one they call Kobe Bryant.

The two locals, Lindsay from Clifton and Caron with a home in Centreville, sat down at the Cheesecake Factory in Fair Oaks Mall to discuss the Wizards' last season and Caron's habits and schedule for the offseason.

Lindsay ordered a mint green iced tea based on the advice of Caron, who frequents the Cheesecake Factory, and Caron ordered himself a Chicken Caesar Salad.  When asked by the waiter whether he wanted a small or large, Caron replied emphatically, "Large!"

First up in the interview was the topic of workouts.  Lindsay asked Caron what his schedule was like and Caron discussed how he enjoys to work out from 1 a.m. to 5 a.m. regularly.  He explained how "at night, you get the best time, quality time, no interruptions."  Caron also went on to explain how by working at night, he would free up time to spend with his daughter and family in the evenings.

Caron on the Wizards' 19-63 season: "I'm pretty sure everybody is getting therapy right now ... but at the same time, watch out next year."

Next up was Caron's straw fetish, which by now has been widely documented.  In Lindsay interview, Caron expanded upon his self proclaimed stress reducer and spoke upon his love for McDonald's straws due to their quality and thickness.  Lindsay brought up Caron's Burger King acquisition, which Caron made nearly one year ago, but Caron stood true to his McDonald's straws.  Caron said he is brought about 22-23 McDonald's straws before each game.  That's a lot of straws.  Lindsay presented Caron with a handful of straws, to which the man smiled and accepted.

I have to agree with Caron wholeheartedly about McDonald's straws, although I'd probably suggest to to "borrow" McDonald's straws for something like a milkshake rather than for chewing.  They're really good for milkshakes.

With workouts and fetishes out of the way, Lindsay talked with Caron about an upcoming trip to Los Angeles he'll make this summer, in which he'll visit Kobe Bryant.  The two were like brothers, Caron said, when they played together in Los Angeles, and have been very competitive since.  The Lakers, set to play Game 5 tonight in Los Angeles at 9:00 p.m. ET, could use some Tuff Juice right now to deal with the Denver Nuggets.

The last topic discussed was that of Flip Saunders, and how Caron and Flip have communicated since Flip got the Head Coach job for the Wizards.  Caron told Lindsay how Flip and him had fun with Caron's first pitch at the National's opener, and Flip told him it was a definite strike.

More on Lindsay
As a fellow Centreville High School alum, I can look past Lindsay's graduation from James Madison University, George Mason University's arch rival.  One day.  But with that school rivalry silliness aside, here are a few links to get connected with one of the area's most talented sports anchors (and an aspiring actress to boot?):
