Linda McMahon to run for U.S. Senate in 2012

Linda McMahon has formally announced that she will run for United States Senate in the state of Connecticut. 

The former CEO of WWE first ran for a Senate seat in 2010, but ultimately lost the race to Democratic candidate Richard Blumenthal. 

The announcement was officially made on Tuesday, September 20, at factory in Southington, Connecticut.  McMahon has already. launched her official 2012 campaign website

She will be seeking the seat currently occupied by Joseph Lieberman, who announced in January he would not seek re-election.  As of this time McMahon faces competition from other Republicans, Hartford lawyer Brian K. Hill, Vernon Mayor Jason McCoy and possibly former Congressman Chris Shays.  Democrats in the race so far include Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz, United States Representative Chris Murphy and state Representative William Tong.

During her first campaign she officially resigned from WWE and reportedly used $50 million of the McMahon family fortune to finance her first campaign.
