After the Beatles split Sir Paul McCartney suffered from bouts of anxiety in the seventies when he fled to their farm in Scotland. Linda and Paul married in March of 1969 until 1988 when she died of breast cancer.
In a new book by author Tom Doyle, Man on the Run: Paul McCartney, hits the stands on September 6
“Day by day his condition had been steadily worsening. His often sleepless nights were spent shaking with anxiety, while his days were characterized by heavy drinking and self-sedation with marijuana. For the first time in his life, he felt utterly worthless.”
Doyle interviewed McCartney for the book, ”It was Linda who saved me and it was all done in a domestic setting.” Shortly thereafter Paul would announce to the world he was leaving the Beatles in April 1970.
