The ‘Screen Actors Guild’ (SAG) Awards were held Sunday night Jan. 27, 2013. It was broadcast on the cable TV networks of TBS & TNT. It was also screened at the Los Angeles & New Mexico (SAG/AFTRA) chapters. These awards are voted on by paid up SAG/AFTRA union members which climbs above 150,000 in the U.S & Canada. That includes the Native American members. They all cast their votes for movies & TV performances from 2012 either by regular mail ballots or electronic punch-checks. Paid up members were invited by Email to free movie or TV screenings in Los Angeles or New York. DVD screeners are also sent out to members to encourage them to vote for acting performances.

The show has been - “Lauded by critics for its style - simplicity and genuine warmth - the Screen Actors Guild Awards - which made its debut in 1995 - has become one of the industry’s most prized honors. The only televised awards shows to exclusively honor performers - it presents thirteen awards for acting in film and television in a fast moving two hour show which airs live on TNT and TBS.”

- Outstanding performance by a female actor in a leading role - Jennifer Lawrence as ‘Tiffany’ for “Silver Linings Playbook”
- Outstanding performance by a male actor in a supporting Role - Tommy Lee Jones as ‘Thaddeus Stevens’ for “Lincoln”
- Outstanding performance by a female actor in a supporting role - Anne Hathaway as ‘Fantine’ for “Les Miserables”
- Outstanding performance by a cast in a motion picture - “Argo” - Warner Bros. Pictures
- Outstanding performance by a male actor in a television movie or miniseries - Kevin Costner as “Devil Anse” Hatfield for “Hatfields & McCoys”
- Outstanding performance by a female actor in a television movie or miniseries – Julianne Moore as ‘Sarah Palin’ for “Game Change” (HBO)
- Outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series - Bryan Cranston as ‘Walter White’ for “Breaking Bad”
- Outstanding performance by a female actor in a drama series - Claire Danes as ‘Carrie Mathison’ for “Homeland”
- Outstanding performance by a male actor in a comedy series - Alec Baldwin as ‘Jack Donaghy’ for “30 Rock”
- Outstanding performance by a female actor in a comedy series - Tina Fey as ‘Liz Lemon’ for “30 Rock”
- Outstanding performance by an ensemble in a drama series - “Downton Abbey”
- Outstanding performance by an ensemble in a comedy series - “Modern Family”
- Outstanding action performance by a stunt ensemble in a motion picture - “Skyfall”
- Outstanding action performance by a stunt ensemble in a television series - “Game of Thrones”
