As I wrote here yesterday, Limestone Brewing Co., brewmaster Ken McMullen had written that difficulties with their lease might have forced them to close their doors after Saturday night, January 7.
However, a call to Limestone has confirmed that they are still open and will stay in business for the foreseeable future.
While any business may run into a rough patch with their landlord, reports of the establishment's imminent closing may have been a case of someone talking out of turn.I may have leapt on the story too soon.
Since Limestone is probably still working things out with the owner of the strip where it's located, I'm not inflaming the situation by naming names. Just say the best thing woulod be to keep the space as a brewpub, since it's too big for another suburban chain restaurant. Besdies, the trend seems to be moving toweard more craft beer spaces, not anothwer Chili's with Blue Moon on its "import" menu. Even another brewpub would require several months of buildout and waiting for a series of licenses that could leave the space empty for months.
So Limestone remains open for business at 12337 S. Route 59. Best anyone can do for them is drop by.
