Located on Boulevard Kukulkan in the hotel zone, Lima 1205 is accessible from every resort in the area. The décor is a combination of modern with rustic undertones. The main dining room is spacious with a private dining room overlooking the bay.

Start your Peruvian experience with a glass of house made chicha morada (a typical purple corn-based juice) or a very strong pisco sour. When it comes to the food, Lima 1205 leaves no stone unturned offering the staples as well as some of the less familiar traditional dishes.

Maximize your order by sharing dishes. Most would agree that the ceviche serves as a litmus test for the rest of the meal. Lima 1205 does not disappoint with their interpretation of ceviche de pescado—fresh fish marinated in lemon juice with rocoto sauce. This one is a must and you might want to put in for a second order. Other essentials include papa a la huancaínserved with a creamy cheese sauce with a slight kick and the anticuchos—beef, chicken, or fish brochettes marinated with spicy panca sauce and served with salsa criolla.

For the main course, the lomo saltado is the crowd pleaser. Known as a Peruvian stir-fry, this dish features tender marinated beef strips mixed with tomato, onions, and cilantro and served with rice and French fries. Seafood lovers will appreciate arroz chaufa de mariscos, a seafood fried rice that combines both Peruvian and Chinese influences found in Peru.

For New Yorkers, the arrival of cold weather prompts us to start planning our winter getaways. If yours happens to be to Cancun, you will be happy to hear that this resort town is leading the pack in providing diners an eclectic mix of international cuisines sure to whet everyone’s appetite. Lima 1205 is certainly playing a part in accomplishing this goal.
