Lily Tomlin and her partner of 42 years, may finally be walking down the aisle. After more than four decades together, Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner may finally tie the knot. Lily, who will turn 74 on Sept. 1, and Wagner, 78, never thought they would see same sex marriage legal in their lifetime, according to E! News on Aug. 19. With her notorious snort, one can hear her asking that question about equal rights for the LGBT community.
"Jane and I have been together for 42 years", Tomlin said at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Pre-Emmy Performers Peer Group reception.
"You didn't think that would happen", the "9 to 5" star said. "It's pretty remarkable."
Due in part to the Supreme Court's recent rulings on DOMA, and Prop 8 in California, gay couples like Tomlin and Wagner are finally ready to say, "I do".
Then again, Lily recently said, "With the concept of marriage, I've been a little too flippant and I've said things like, 'I was hoping the gay community would come up with a better idea than imitating heterosexual marriage", according to HuffPost.
Of course, being the comedian that she is, Lily also joked about the possibility that she and Jane would walk down the aisle in wedding gowns.
"No rings, no bridal dresses", Tomlin said. "...maybe we'll be dressed like chickens".
Well that's the truth! Plfff!
