Lillet, the quintessential aperitif from Bordeaux, has declared the third Thursday of May as National Aperitif Day to bring awareness to an often under-the-radar libation – the Aperitif.
Today, May 15, Lillet is calling on all aperitif aficionados as well as newcomers around the country to take part in the custom and the spirit of the traditional French aperitif hour and share a glass of Lillet with friends. Afternoon today at The Liberty will be a special Lillet happy hour from 4pm – 6pm A long-standing, pre-dinner tradition practiced by Europe’s most fashionable elite, Lillet has been sipped by queens, immortalized by Parisian artists and served by history’s most famous ladies of society. Since 1872, Lillet apéritif has become the universal symbol for elegant entertaining – best served over ice, it’s effortlessly enjoyed.
Lillet is a blend of select wines from Bordeaux (85%) and a secret-recipe citrus liqueur (15%) made with sweet orange peels from Spain and bitter orange peels from Haiti in Lillet’s cellar. Currently available in three varieties, Lillet Blanc, Lillet Rouge, and Lillet Rosé, Lillet is considered the ultimate summer aperitif and used as a stand-out ingredient in multiple craft cocktails. All three expressions have an ABV of 17% and an RRP of $19.99, making it an ideal choice for a low-proof cocktail.
