It's Lilac Days in Woodland, Washington. Each year, volunteers provide a wonderful garden and vintage farm home experience to visitors.
This year you can tour the beautiful gardens and the historic 1880's Victorian Farm Home of lilac hybridizer, Hulda Klager. During Lilac Days 2014, the Farm Home will feature "Sewing Time in Yesteryear."
This year I dodged the raindrops on what was to be a very rainy day. As I love to photograph the lilacs, I was thrilled when the clouds parted once in awhile and the sun shone down on the raindrop-embellished flowers. It turned out to be a perfect day to visit the Garden.
I also selected my favorite for this year... the “Superba.” This frothy, bushy lilac is laden with delicate pink flowers. This is almost the opposite of the tight-bloom , dark magenta "Frank K," that was last year's favorite for me.
You can visit April 19, through Mothers' Day May 11th, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Admission is $3. Children under 12 free.
Lilac plants, some of them Hulda Klager specialties, are available for purchase. There is also a lovely gift shop with many lilac inspired items.
The grounds are wheelchair friendly. The Historic Home does not have wheelchair access but you can see a video tour of Hulda’s Home in the wheelchair-friendly Historic Potting Shed.
No pets permitted in the Gardens.
