On March 15, 2013, rapper Lil Wayne, 30, reportedly remained in critical condition in the intensive care unit of a Los Angeles area hospital after experiencing more seizures, according to TMZ.
The report indicates Wayne’s prognosis was unknown at around 6:30 p.m. PT, but an "odd" tweet posted to the performer’s Twitter account indicated he was doing “OK” as he thanked everyone for their prayers and support.
Earlier TMZ reported that an insider revealed Wayne had been placed on breathing tubes and was in a induced coma, as people cried at his bedside.
TMZ notes that Wayne’s mother was on a plane to be by her son's side, and that anything regarding his health care would be determined once she got to LA.
The rapper was reportedly rushed to Cedars-Sinai Hospital on the evening of March 12 after suffering numerous seizures. According to TMZ, he went home the next day, but only hours later a bodyguard discovered him unconscious on the floor.
Sources told TMZ there is “evidence Wayne went on a Sizzurp binge after being released” from the hospital because codeine was found in his system, thus doctors were forced to pump his stomach multiple times.
The website reports that once at the hospital, Wayne had to be restrained in the ICU because he was “shaking uncontrollably.”
