Lil Wayne released from hospital following alleged overdose (Video)

USA Today reported this morning that Lil Wayne has been released from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. The rapper had spent six days in the ICU after suffering from seizures on the set of a music video. Fans had feared for the worst following reports that Lil Wayne had been prepared for his last rites over the weekend. The rapper had allegedly overdosed on sizzurp.

TMZ originally reported on March 15 that multi-platinum rapper Lil Wayne was in critical condition and was being prepared for his last rites in the ICU at Cedars Sinai-Medical Center in Los Angeles. Associates of the artist and his record label have denied TMZ’s claims.

The rapper, born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., was hospitalized earlier in the week on March 12 after suffering through multiple seizures on the set of a music video. He was released on March 13, but then re-admitted later in the evening after Wayne was found unconscious in his hotel room by his security.

TMZ claimed that “Sources say there’s evidence Wayne went on a sizzurp binge after being released Wednesday, because doctors found high amounts of codeine in his system”
Sizzurp is the ingredient in cough syrup that Lil Wayne has glamorized the abuse of. Imbibing the substance will give the user a drunk-like feeling.

Fellow celebrities Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith are both suspected to have died of similar codeine overdoses.
