One might assume that if someone hosts a television show, they would try to get as many people to watch as they can. However, Fox News reported on Feb. 2 that "American Idol" judge Nicki Minaj discouraged Lil Wayne from watching the show that she sits on the judging panel of.
In an interview, Lil Wayne said he has never watched an "American Idol" episode, and when he talked to Nicki Minaj about it, she told him "You don't wanna watch it, you're not going to be into it."
Lil Wayne then said the show was just going to be a catfight between Minaj and Mariah Carey, and he isn't into that stuff, which is why he figures that Minaj told him not to watch. This comes a few weeks after Minaj admitted that it was Lil Wayne that convinced her to sign on to the show. She said it was all about helping her reach the masses and increasing her popularity.
However, one of the big complaints this season has been about the judges taking the center stage over the contestants, and the promotion for the show has almost only focused on Carey and Minaj and their well-publicized feud.
While Lil Wayne said he heard the talent on the show was "pretty good," it wasn't enough to make him over look the catfights.
