Lil Mama to play Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes in TLC biopic

Lil Mama may just catch a break in Hollywood.

For moments ago, it was confirmed that the pint-sized femcee has been cast as the late Lisa ‘Left Eye’ Lopes in VH1′s hotly anticipated TLC biopic.

Rap Legend, MC Lyte leaked the news to Hiphollywood.com while walking the red carpet last night for Grammy weekend in Los Angeles.

Over the years, Lil Mama has been the butt of many jokes because of one unfortunate moment when back in 2009, she decided to join Alicia Keys and Jay-Z on stage during a MTV VMA performance - without their permission. The only thing that she had going for her was a stint on MTV's talent show ''America's Best Dance Crew'' which eventually got cancelled.

This movie role may seem odd but if it's well written and Lil Mama's performance passes then it could breathe new life into her dead-in-the-water music career. There will be a lot of eyes on the rapper to see whether she can really capture the essence of Left Eye, a woman she was compared to by many at the start of her own career.
