Like the wind - the final dance of Patrick Swayze

The late Patrick Swayze (1952-2009)

The death of Patrick Swayze provided a pregnant pause for those whose teenage years include memories of Johnny Castle (aka - Swayze) on the dance floor.  "Dirty Dancing" and "Ghost" are two movies that acclaimed top status with Patrick Swayze's participation.  The actor's battle with pancreatic cancer has finally resolved itself as Swayze passed at the age of 57.  His supporting actresses have provided positive accolades about the quality of the man in numerous press coverage dotting the internet and elsewhere.  Indeed, it is a tribute to the man who achieved international stardom, but retained a true sense of normalcy in his personal life.  In fact, his first and last love sprung from his high school days, showing indeed a man of true character.

As we bid Swayze a fond farewell, we should take heed and consider those avenues that might have reclaimed for Swayze many more added years.  Nutritionally, it's been realized that Vitamin D3, found in vegetables and sunlight, eliminates toxins materializing to cancer naturally.  Vegetables with antioxidant potential show considerable promise as do most cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower and brussel sprouts, among others.  Whenever we build immunity in our system, we are eliminating traces of disease and pathways to disease in our bodies.  Antioxidants help us fight this battle as do Omega3 fatty acids, found in feta cheese, almonds, walnuts, salmon, tuna and other select fish.

Inasmuch as we must practice maintenance of good health by eating the right foods, we also need to avoid foods that are poor nutritional choices, lest we infest our bodies with decay leading to the diseases we wish to avoid.  Occasional cheating may not provoke too much adverse reaction, but an ongoing onslaught of processed foods daily will inevitably lead to the decay and disease so many experience.  Simple as much of this sounds, it is truly in exercising good nutritional practices that we can hope to remain disease-free.  The incorporation of our highly processed diets has fed disease into our communities at far higher rates than our parents and grandparents ever experienced.  It is this lesson we can learn in an effort to be as productive as possible and free of disease.  Our bodies are interconnected parts and we'd be wise to consider this as we treat our entire system with the ample respect it so deserves.

Swayze left his mark in providing us the gift of how to best live life fully and completely.  His perseverance in treatment of his illness illustrated a strength and fortitude that bear emulating during life's less uncertain times.  The memory of Patrick Swayze on the dance floor and elsewhere stand testament to one fact - his memory and legacy will not be like the wind, but a replica of what lasts.
