Michael Mahar, in Silver Spring, Maryland, is a lookalike to actor David Caruso who portrays Lt. Horatio Caine on CSI: Miami.

Who is the person you look like?  [even though it is very obvious from looking at you]

David Caruso, I’ve been doing this for about 2 years, I was on the Live with Regis and Kelly show July 14, 2009 as a celebrity Look a like, I did not win the grand prize but, I was on worldwide, Live TV. I have also done photo ops in Las Vegas."

Did anyone suggest you be this talent, or was it all your own idea?

I have been stopped many many times by people who thought I was David Caruso, the CSI guy.

About 2 years ago my grandson, who was about 4 years old at the time, was watching TV and saw the lead up to the CSI : Miami show and jumped up and said,

Pop Pop was that you on TV?"  He is my biggest fan.

What have been some of the comments, and your responses, when recognized as David Caruso also known as Lt. Horatio Caine?

Most people just walk or run up to me and ask if I am the CSI guy, I usually tell them that I am Mike from Silver Spring, Maryland."

Are you represented by agents and what preparation is involved? 

I am a member of “The Entertainment Network” from Las Vegas, I am signed with an Agency “Crooners Unlimited” Also from Las Vegas. I also study the (CSI) show for appearance, style, mannerisms and of course those (famous Horatio Caine) one -liners."

Have or do you have family or friend support in regard to your talent?

Yes my large Irish family and all my friends are completely behind me, they believe in me."

Is this your full time job or career, and if not, what is it you do or did before?

At this time this is a hobby to me until I catch on. My regular job is running a small copier company, service and sales."

Have you met your “other” you? 

No."

Have you been on gigs as your character in either film, TV, radio, stage, conventions, etc.?

 

[Yes,) the Live with Regis and Kelly show.  It was scary, I am new to this but comfortable in my skin."

What is the most interesting gig or experience you have had as your character?

The Live with Regis and Kelly show, and I could not believe that I was one of 10,000 applicants, even though I was not #1.  The national exposure was fantastic."

How do you see your future, as yourself or as David Caruso?

I am new to the entertainment business and am hoping to make a career out of it in film, TV, meet and greets - anything they throw at me, I’m ready to do it. I am so excited in this new adventure."

Is there anything else you think the readers would be interested in?

While in Las Vegas this year I was stopped maybe 500-600 times for pictures and autographs. I posed for the pictures and declined the autographs as I am not HIM. People are still thrilled and excited to see the look a like. I get so tickled as well.

Also, I am starting to get stopped by people saying “I saw you on the Regis and Kelly show. What a life.
