Adobe has announced the availability to the final releases of Lightroom 5.6, Camera RAW and the DNG Converter versions 8.6. ACR has added support for three new camera raw file formats: the Nikon D810, Panasonic LUMIX AG-GH4 and Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ1000. Next are three new camera color profiles for the Sony DSC-RX100 III, Sony A7S and Sony Alpha SLT-A77 II. There’s also a list of twenty two new lens profiles from Canon, Nikon, Phase One, Pentax, and Sony. Along with these additions is a list of bug fixes and performance improvements. To get all the details, go to Lightroom Journal blog.
It looks like ACR and DNG Converter 8.6 are becoming tools of higher performance. As RAW files become larger, you need to be able to process these files not so much faster as not allowing those files to be a drag on your workflow's performance. Since Lightroom 5.6 is wrapped around ACR, its improved performance is of course, directly linked to ACR's processing engine's performance.
If your Creative Cloud desktop app has not pushed these updates to you yet, follow these download links to manually install them.
