The Final Fantasy XIII trilogy will come to a conclusion when Square Enix releases Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 for Xbox 360 and PS3 in early 2014. Though the game won’t be out for several more months, gameplay director Yuji Abe spoke to IGN on Oct. 22 about the title and provided an idea on how long Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 will be and it sounds like Lighting's return will be a lengthy visit.
According to Abe, Lighting Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be “about 50 hours” long – making the game around the same length as Final Fantasy XIII and slightly longer than Final Fantasy XIII-2.
"Overall, when I did the test plays during the development period, I played through from start to finish trying to see almost all of the aspects of the game and it took roughly about 50 hours,” he shared.
Abe continued to note that, "…I think this is one that’ll take a good chunk of time, and people will be able to enjoy it for a good long while."
Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy 13 is the third entry to the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy and takes place five hundred years after Final Fantasy XIII-2’s ending. The game will be released by Square Enix in Japan next month on Nov. 21, and follow in North America on Feb. 11, 2014.
